Subak is a sanctuary for "dining with nature" located at the frings of the natural virgin jungles of Bukit Lanjan, 30 minutes from KL city centre.
It blessed with naturally fertile land and copious rainfall, rice was cultivated in Bali’s highlands via numerous spring-fed streams that resulted in the development of the highly intricate and ritualised Subak water irrigation system. Subak was born out of this inspirational tradition of sharing life-giving water to sustain rice terraces in Bali.

On Valentine's Day, Capt'n Hook declared his love to boiboi by making an appointment near Jalan 222 area Petaling Jaya to test drive boiboi's favourite car. We were supposed to tried one car but ended up testing the other one as well, hence by the time we were done, it was rather late for lunch. Instead of going around like headless chicken, Capt'n Hook asked the salesman to recommend a eating pla...
Nowadays, I'm limiting myself to one post a day, for fear of running out of ideas/photos/stuff to blog about in the near future, ;) April started off on a low note, feeling fatigued from opening boxes, and discarding hundreds and thousands of bottles, in the name of 'proper disposal' of 'important materials'. Hmm, what a waste of time, energy and effort. Stir fried la-la in spring onion and g...
Back to Ipoh food (temporarily, for fear of amnesia strikes) for today's post. After that mediocre outing at Haji Samuri Kajang Satay in Bukit Tinggi, Klang (read my laments HERE) last month, I lost all hope in yummylicious satay, or KAJANG satay, for that matter. I mean, Haji Samuri's supposed to be THE best Kajang Satay, with heavy promotions, branches more than an oak tree, and throngs of satay...
Departing a bit late, resulting in spoiled initial plan of having breakfast/lunch/teatime along the old trunk road from Ipoh-Tapah. ;) Team? Me and KYT only. Chose the highway instead, and travelling was a chore as it was a very, very hot day.Work started smoothly, right until some arrogant b*st*rd completely ruined my day (or rather, the 1st half of my day) No intention to elaborate further, to p...
The town of Bidor is situated south of Ipoh, between Ipoh-Kuala Lumpur via the North-South Highway (PLUS). People throng (OK, an exaggeration, but most tourists DO drop by) this town for a few obvious reasons. 1) The food - Duck noodles, biscuits, Chinese restaurants, KFC and typical hawker fare at the wet market.2) The fruits/vegetables - Guava, petai (stinkbeans!!! ^o^), & various local delights...
On the 1st day of 2009, I was still reeling from the previous night's experience, walked miles after miles of unnecessary pilgrimage with thousands of others, as I chose to take the train, seeing that most roads were closed off to traffic. However, on the day after, things started to pick up, as influenced by the many rave reviews of Tenji's buffet promotion, we crawled, traversed and scrambled our...
Penang is synonymous with great hawker fare. From the perennial favourite, Laksa, to Char Koay Teow, and Hokkien Mee (Prawn Mee to you and me) to Lor Bak, it'll be a sin to die from hunger on the streets, and laments regarding "limited food options". Admit it, people throng the island for the FOOD, more than anything else. ...
If you are looking for wood fire pizza, look no further than Coconut House. Located at the row of old shophouses near Maybank Tower, it probably serves one of the best thin crust pizzas in town. It's really a hidden gem because this is not a place that most people would think of when they think of Italian food. Coconut House even has an authentic dome oven like italian pizza places in which they c...
