Bukit Puteri
This 200-metre high historical hill was the state’s fortress against enemy attacks between 1831 and 1876. Today the only remains of the fort are cannons, a flagpole, a large bell and a lighthouse. There is also a cave here known as Gua Puteri which was used for storage of gun powder, stone and iron bullets. The lighthouse on the peak of Bukit Puteri functioned as a guide for fishermen and sailors sailing into Kuala Sungai Terengganu. The view from the peak is breathtaking.
