Beaches
The beaches of Penang offer stretches of golden sands, crystal blue sea and secluded coves.
Most activities are centered around Batu Ferringhi, where most of the popular beach resorts are located. Their facilities include waterskiing, sailing, windsurfing, water scooters, and waterskiing. This prime stretch of beach is always a hive of activity with elite nightspots and restaurants, which come to life in the evenings. At night, the entire road along the beach is transformed into a hive of activity with a thriving bazaar offering a wide variety of goods from trinkets to T-shirts and even local culinary delicacies.

 

Tanjung Bungah, located close to Georgetown features a range of international beachfront resorts along its shores. Hidden among greenery and rocky landscapes it is said to have some of the best views of the horizon.. Some resorts provide sea adventure facilities such as parasailing, windsurfing and water-skiing.

The scenic, shady Teluk Bahang situated at the extreme northwest corner of the island is nicknamed ‘The End of the World’. It offers a peaceful environment minus the large crowds flocking to the popular resort areas. Here there are fishing villages as well as many small restaurants. You can also go trekking in the recreational forest or visit the Forestry Museum.

Batu Maung, a small fishing village at the south-eastern tip of the island, is well known due to a beach-front shrine dedicated to Admiral Cheng Ho, a famous Chinese admiral. A huge footprint in the vicinity believed to be his, is an object of worship due to believes that it can grant good fortune. The best seafood on the island can also be found here.

Pulau Aman
Pulau Aman, is an idlyllic fishing village that is also a centre for aquaculture. Aside from its cockle culture project, the island is also a venue for activities such as kayaking, fishing and jungle trekking. Historical sites worth a visit here include an ancient graveyard, a cave used by pirates in the past and a World War II ammunition depot are. Chalets are available for those who want to spend a night here.
