Kuching has a new landmark! The new State Legislative Assembly Complex is fast becoming an attraction to visitors to Kuching city.

The nine-storey complex with its unique architecture has added a new dimension to the city’s interesting skyline. With its golden roof gleam brightly, visible from the distance. Nobody can fail to notice the majestic building, adjacent to the city’s oldest landmark, the Astana, once the White Rajah’s palace and now the official resident of the Governor.

Located on the hill and overlooking the Sarawak River, the complex houses a banquet hall, a meeting and a ceremonial hall. The uniquely shaped edifice complements the older attractions of Kuching Old Town by the river.

The building is fully equipped with high-tech information and communication technology. This new DUN complex, perched on the promontory on the pristine bank of the Sarawak River and nestled between the Astana and Fort Margherita, has been described as one of the most beautiful buildings in Southeast Asia. It is also a depiction of the state’s struggles and achievements over the years after gaining independence through the formation of Malaysia and as a multi-racial society.Reinforced by nine gigantic pillars and numerous arches, the building reflects the sovereignty of the people’s power as well as the support of all the races in the state.

We are organising an event in Kuching next year, do you hire out any rooms in the assembly building for a Gala dinner?
