Brunei Darussalam is located on the northern shore of the island of Borneo. It is one of the tiniest countries in the world and occupies less than 1% of Borneo’s land area. Brunei’s neighbours are the Indonesian province of Kalimantan and the Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak.
Brunei is a lovely, peaceful country blessed by a mild, equatorial climate throughout the year. The majority of Bruneians are Malays. Distinctive indigenous tribes such as the Kedayan, Tutong and Belait also reside here as well as Chinese and other ethnicities. The offi cial language is Bahasa Melayu (Malay) but English is widely spoken.
