Malaysia’s multi faceted landscape presents avenues for a great diversity of pursuits. Whether it is the beach, the mountain resorts, hot springs, forest resorts or theme parks or the golf course you will be able to indulge your particular interest here.

The Forestry Department, in efforts to protect and safeguard forests and ecological treasures in their natural conditions, have set aside pockets of virgin forests or Virgin Jungle Reserves (VJRs) established to serve as permanent nature reserves and natural arboreta,. Since its inception a total of 72 VJRs have been established throughout the Peninsula representing samples of Mangrove Forest, Beach (Strand) Forest, Heath Forest, Peat Swamp Forest, Lowland Dipterocarp Forest, Hill Dipterocarp Forest, Upperhill Dipterocarp Forest and Montane Forest. A number of endangered species have been identified and are now protected by law and include, among others, the tigers, rhinoceros, slow loris and even the birdwing butterfly.

In addition to what is above ground, caving or spelunking offers you a glimpse of attractions available underground. Some of the largest caves in the country are found in the states on the island of Borneo. Another of Malaysia’s treasures is its extensive sea coast and beautiful coral reefs and rich marine life. The beaches with soft white sands are inviting and the seas with their hidden gardens beckon snorkelers and divers to explore the depths.

With its abundance of natural treasures it is not surprising that Malaysia is a much favoured destination among eco-tourists from around the world.
